WHICH “DAY” WILL I CHOOSE?

HEBREWS 9:27-28: “And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.” (ESV)‭‭

OBSERVATION: There is a “Glorious Day” that is coming! A Day that will change everything! A Day that will bring every promise of God to fulfillment! A Day that is a day of rejoicing for every person who has placed their faith in Jesus Christ. It is the Day of the Trumpet’s Call. It is the Day of Gathering. It is the Day when the dead shall rise first, and then we who are left will meet Him in the clouds, and then be forever with Him. It is the Day when we will be seated around His Banqueting Table adorned as the true Bride of Christ. It is the Day of reward and blessing for all who believe. It is a Glorious Day!

There is a “Dark Day” that is coming! It is a Day of judgment. It is a Day of reckoning for nations. It is a Day when the Lord Jesus Christ will return to this earth as Judge. He came the first time to offer Himself as our sacrifice for sin. He came the first time to open the way to heaven through faith. He came the first time to reconcile us to the Father. Yet, just as it is appointed unto man once to die, and then the judgment, so those who reject Jesus Christ as Lord will meet Him once again, not as Savior, but as Judge. It will be a truly Dark Day (for those who do not believe).

“Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war. His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself. He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God. And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses. From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.”  (‭‭Revelation‬ ‭19:11-16‬ ‭ESV)

Just as in Noah’s day, there are those who mock when they hear such words. Surely the world will go on forever. Surely man will ultimately evolve until he sets up the utopia that he dreams of. Religion and Jesus are simply a crutch and a myth that are only for the weak. Everything can be defined and understood through science. To think that Jesus will come again is preposterous, so the scoffer proclaims. Yet, He will return! He will come to those unsuspecting like a thief in the night. Just as when the waters descended from the heavens, and the door of the Ark was closed by the hand of God, when the Day of Judgment comes – it will be too late!

And yet, TODAY – there is still time! TODAY, there is still hope! To everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord in repentance and faith – there is the “Blessed Assurance” of His coming for them, not for judgment, but for full redemption! There is nothing we can do to earn this “Blessed Assurance”. Jesus died in our place. His shed blood opened the door or reconciliation with God the Father to all who will believe. It is of faith, and not of works, so that the promise might be available and sure to all who call upon His Name!

“But watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap. For it will come upon all who dwell on the face of the whole earth. But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.” (Luke‬ ‭21:34-36‬ ‭ESV‬‬)

Lord, turn every heart, every eye, every life to You through Jesus Christ! Draw men, women, children and youth to You in these last days – before “The Day” comes. Lord – save to the uttermost I pray.

In Jesus Name!

About Kirk's Devotional Journal

Kirk L. Zehnder is the Founder of Resurrection Christian Outreach. RCO is a ministry that promotes the growth and vitality of the local church through speaking engagements, seminars, various media tools, and written curriculum and books. This ministry was started over 35 years ago by Kirk as a means to strengthen the church that he was pastoring. It grew as Kirk began to share these tools with other churches. Today many of the materials are being used by local churches both nationally and internationally. Kirk's Devotional Journal is a result of struggling with Bible reading programs that never seemed to work. Kirk feels the Lord helped him discover an easy to follow program to Read, Reflect, Pray, and Journal through the Bible in one year. This program is called L.I.F.E. Unlike other programs there are no dates to follow. You can miss a day and still complete your reading. You never feel like the dates and verses you missed are chasing you. You are free to enjoy your daily Biblical journey and listen to the voice of The Lord. For more information on the L.I.F.E. plan, send an email to rcoutreach@aol.com. Kirk is also available for speaking engagements, seminars, and retreats. With over 40 years of professional business and pastoral ministry experience, Kirk brings a unique combination of practical wisdom, humor, and Biblical insight. If you would like Kirk to speak at your church, school, or ministry, please send an email to rcoutreach@aol.com and we will get back to you as soon as possible to discuss your opportunity.
