ONE WAY!

ACTS 4:11-12: “He is the stone which was rejected by you, the builders, but which became the chief cornerstone. And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among mankind by which we must be saved.” NASB

OBSERVATION: ONE WAY! If anyone saw the recent movie “Jesus Revolution” they will remember the scenes of hundreds of young people with a single finger pointed to the heavens. This was the clarion call of these young believers during the Jesus Movement Revival that moved across America in the late 1960s to early 1970s.

I can still remember driving on the freeway, seeing a car with a Jesus sticker on it, and putting my hand out the window to point to heaven. The normal response was that the other driver would do the same. This type of message was not met with any hostility during this time. It may have been looked at as being weird but no one threatened us or told us to stop.

One day, in my apartment complex, a new person moved into the apartment next to me. His car was parked next to mine and it had a Jesus sticker on it. When I saw him walking to his car I put up my finger pointing to heaven and said – “ONE WAY!” He looked at me as if I had come from another planet and said – “What?” I said I saw the sticker on the back of his car. He responded, “I just bought this car and don’t know what this sticker is all about!” Yet, there was no hostility.

Today we live in a much different world. If you proclaim that there is ONE WAY to God you are viewed as a hater, a bigot, and the problem with our society. There is tolerance for every other viewpoint today except for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This is nothing new. The disciples faced this early on in their ministry in Jerusalem. Peter and John had just been detained by the Sadducees for proclaiming the resurrection and for the healing of the paralytic man.

  • “When they had placed them in the center, they began to inquire, “By what power, or in what name, have you done this?” Acts 4:7 NASB

Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, proclaimed,

  • “Let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead— by this name this man stands here before you in good health.” Acts 4:10 NASB

Then Peter, in essence, lifted his finger toward heaven and cried – ONE WAY!

  • “He is the stone which was rejected by you, the builders, but which became the chief cornerstone. And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among mankind by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:11-12 NASB

Have you ever noticed that you can talk about God, heaven, blessings, love, joy, and peace – but the minute you mention the name of Jesus and proclaim that He alone is the Way, the Truth, and the Life –

EVERYTHING CHANGES!

Yet, this is the Gospel message. This is what we are called to proclaim. This is the only message that can lead one to salvation. There is no other name under heaven that has been given among mankind by which we must be saved. To proclaim – ONE WAY!, is not to be arrogant. It is the highest measure of love.

  • “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.” John 3:16-18 NASB

Jesus is the Way! He is the Only Way! He is the ONE WAY! There is no other pathway that leads to a restored relationship with God and eternal life. Without Jesus’ death on the cross for our sins we would all still be lost and destined for eternal condemnation. God loved us so much that He sent Jesus to die in our place. The cross reminds us of Jesus’ sacrifice and the empty tomb assures us that because He lives – we too will live with Him!

Sin and death cannot be reasoned away. We cannot reach heaven through our good works because we all fall short of the glory and perfection of God. We need a Savior. We need forgiveness. We need someone who can break the power of sin and death in our lives. Jesus is the Chief Cornerstone! Jesus is the Son of God! Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life! Jesus is Life! There is only…

ONE WAY!

This Easter, look beyond the cross. Look toward the empty tomb. The stone has been rolled away but the Cornerstone still stands! Jesus is alive! Jesus is risen! Jesus is knocking at the door of your heart and waiting for you to invite Him in. Humble your heart before Him. Confess that you are a sinner in need of a Savior. Open the door and invite Him into your life. You will meet His grace and will receive His faith to be saved. And, you will discover the truth of the ages. There is only…

ONE WAY!

In Jesus’ Name!

About Kirk's Devotional Journal

Kirk L. Zehnder is the Founder of Resurrection Christian Outreach. RCO is a ministry that promotes the growth and vitality of the local church through speaking engagements, seminars, various media tools, and written curriculum and books. This ministry was started over 35 years ago by Kirk as a means to strengthen the church that he was pastoring. It grew as Kirk began to share these tools with other churches. Today many of the materials are being used by local churches both nationally and internationally. Kirk's Devotional Journal is a result of struggling with Bible reading programs that never seemed to work. Kirk feels the Lord helped him discover an easy-to-follow program to Read, Reflect, Pray, and Journal through the Bible in one year. This program is called L.I.F.E. Unlike other programs there are no dates to follow. You can miss a day and still complete your reading. You never feel like the dates and verses you missed are chasing you. You are free to enjoy your daily Biblical journey and listen to the voice of The Lord. For more information on the L.I.F.E. plan, send an email to rcoutreach@aol.com. 1 Response to ONE WAY!

  1. thank you!
Every day I am so thankful that Jesus died and resurrected! I am so thankful every day that He is at the Right Hand of God our Father making intercession as High Priest with all the power, authority and dominion in heaven AND on earth, now and is to come until the end of all evil! Amen. Hallelujah!
