WHAT WILL RELEASE GOD’S MIRACULOUS POWER?

Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere. The Lord worked with them. And he backed up his word by the signs that went with it.” (NiRV)‭‭

OBSERVATION: What will release the miraculous power of God in the church? This is a question that I have often pondered, and one that I have heard debated quite often. Is it prevailing prayer? Is it powerful worship? Is it dynamic preaching? Is it systematic teaching? Is it ministry to the poor? Is it social justice? Or is it something else?

All of the things listed above are important and vital elements of the church’s, and the believer’s life. The first and greatest commandment is to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. A church that is doing this will be a church that has a vital life of prayer and worship. It will also be a church that loves the Word of God, and teaches its truth with boldness and unwavering faith.

The second commandment is to love our neighbor as ourselves. A church that does this will be active in ministering to the poor, and promoting social justice in our world. It will be shown through both corporate and individual acts of kindness and love. A church that loves its neighbor will be a church that is compassionate, merciful, and accepting. Yet, even this, combined with the above, is not the key that releases the miraculous power of God in the church.

The miraculous power of God cannot be confused with success. We can achieve levels of success in both our personal life, and in the life of the church, that does not flow out of the miraculous power of God. A lot can be accomplished by simply rolling up our sleeves and working hard. Yet, if we are going to see a paradigm shift in our culture, we need more than hard work – we need God’s miraculous intervention. We need the power of God working through us – doing what we could not humanly do, even with all our hard work combined.

We need REVIVAL – and revival only flows out of the miraculous power of God!

The miraculous power of God is released when the church returns to its first love. What is the church’s first love? It is not doctrinal purity, it is not powerful worship, it is not benevolence and social justice. We have already established their importance.  Our first love is – the heart of the Father, the reason Jesus died, and the sum total of all His authority is invested in (Matthew 28:18-20).

OUR FIRST LOVE IS, AND MUST ALWAYS BE – PROCLAIMING THE GOSPEL TO THE WORLD!

The verses in Mark being considered, follow this command of Jesus.

  • “He said to them, “Go into all the world. Preach the good news to everyone. Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who does not believe will be punished. Here are the miraculous signs that those who believe will do. In my name …“. ‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:15-17‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

The miraculous signs follow the preaching of the good news. Jesus backs up His word as we proclaim His word. When we engage in the proclamation of the Gospel to a dying world, the Lord engages in releasing His miraculous power through our lives. Was Jesus simply going around working miracles, or was He going around proclaiming the Kingdom of God? Jesus was proclaiming the Gospel, the Kingdom of God, and the Father, through the Holy Spirit, was backing up His word with the signs that went with it!

Lord, give us a burning passion to proclaim the Gospel to all who do not know You! As we do, let us love you with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and let us love our neighbor as ourselves. Confirm Your Word with the release of the miraculous through our lives and bring forth a mighty Holy Spirit revival in our land.

In Jesus Name!
