PSALM 33:13-15: “The LORD looks from heaven; He sees all the sons of men. 14 From the place of His dwelling He looks on all the inhabitants of the earth; 15 He fashions their hearts individually; He considers all their works.”
OBSERVATION: What a beautiful picture of the greatness of The Lord and of His intimate concern for His children. First we are introduced to the greatness of The Lord. He looks from heaven and sees ALL the sons of men. He alone is Omniscient (all knowing). He alone has created all things. Through Christ all things were created and all things exist. In Him we live, we move, and we have our being. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. He alone is God, the Sovereign Lord of all! Yet, He is not detached from His creation. He does not simply “see” all the sons of men, He “looks” upon all the inhabitants of the earth. He looks with care and with interest. He looks with the heart of a father, for He is our Father. He looks with delight and desire. He looks upon His children with love!
This concern is not a detached “global” concern. A Deist would say that He looks upon His creation from afar, but does not personally get involved. The Psalmist reveals the intimate involvement of God with man. He does not simply look upon mankind – He looks upon each individual. He – “…fashions their hearts INDIVIDUALLY, He considers ALL their works.” I don’t know about you, but this really is beyond the capacity of my finite mind to fully understand. Yet, I rejoice in the reality of its’ truth. The Creator of the Universe, the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, the Risen Lord – is truly, genuinely, and actively interested in me – individually. God knows my heart. He is the one who fashioned it. And He is not just herding me down the path of life with a group of sheep – He is leading me “one on one” by His great Hand!
Oh, the wondrous and majestic love of our Savior. Oh, the glory and greatness of His Grace. If God is for me, little ole me – who in all of creation can be against me? He holds me firmly in His hands like a father holds the hand of his small son when he walks across the street. If this is true, and it is, I must place myself fully in His care! I must trust Him! I must cast my cares upon Him for He cares for me! I must worship Him! I must live for Him with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength! In Jesus Name!
