AT JUST THE RIGHT TIME! (Can we really trust in God’s timing?)

ISAIAH 49:8: “This is what the Lord says: “At just the right time, I will respond to you. On the day of salvation I will help you. I will protect you and give you to the people as my covenant with them. Through you, I will reestablish the land of Israel and assign it to its own people again.” NLT
‭‭
OBSERVATION: Has it ever felt like the Lord is late in answering your prayers? Have you found yourself despising the delays of life? Have you ever been tempted to take matters into your own hands to get something going? If your answer is yes to any of these questions, God’s word today is…

“AT JUST THE RIGHT TIME, I WILL RESPOND TO YOU!”

Waiting is something I do not do very well. All of my life I have been a man of action. When other people said it could not be done it only motivated me further to find a way to accomplish the task. Yet, in my spiritual life, I have not had the same tenacity. I have found myself often discouraged and confused regarding the events of my life, God’s timing, and the meaning of it all.

As I write these thoughts I am involved in another long-term recovery. I had a serious road bike accident that sent my life into a spiral of pain and procedures. After 11 days in the hospital, I am now home recovering from two surgeries and I have limited mobility and stamina. My prayers have gone before the throne, as well as the prayers of countless friends and family.

I am left with the challenge of taking one day at a time and trusting in God’s perfect timing.

God truly preserved my life. I was going downhill at the speed of 25-30 miles per hour. It started to rain and when I applied the brakes lightly my bike was airborne, with me on it. I took the full brunt of this fall on my right side and my head. Praise the Lord that I was wearing a helmet. The helmet was cracked all the way through. Yet, when they did a CT scan there was no damage to my brain. Also, I slid in the opposite direction of the fall. I should have been propelled into the traffic lanes, but found myself full circle and landing against the ride shoulder. I know angels were involved in my protection.

I had a heart procedure to reverse an a-fib heartbeat. Then, I had surgery on my right femur to remove any blood clots or infection. I am now sharing my life with a wound-vac for the next 3-4 weeks. I could not fulfill a speaking engagement on September 12, and my attention span is limited due to the medications I am taking. No doubt, I wish I could rewind the tape and stay off my bike on the day of the accident. However, we cannot reverse what has already happened, we can only reach forward to what lies ahead.

WE CAN CHOOSE TO TRUST IN THE PERFECT TIMING OF GOD!

  • “This is what the Lord says: “At just the right time, I will respond to you. On the day of salvation I will help you. I will protect you and give you to the people as my covenant with them.”

Isaiah was writing about the coming Messiah and the regathering of Israel under His Messianic reign. When Isaiah wrote this Israel was in captivity and any hope of salvation seemed both distant and impossible. God’s words of comfort and hope are not based on how we feel, or on a timeline we imagine in our minds. God’s words of comfort and hope are based on His nature and His faithfulness. God always answers His children’s cry…

AT JUST THE RIGHT TIME!

  • “…So don’t you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly! But when the Son of Man returns, how many will he find on the earth who have faith?” Luke‬ ‭18:7-8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I have been forced by my circumstances to slow down. I can only do so much. However, I can also spend more time and reflection on God’s Word and in prayer. As I have been doing this the Lord has been revealing things to me that goes far beyond my accident and injuries. I am receiving insight into things that I have been praying for over a long period of time. There is a new appreciation for the small things of life, for family, church family, and friends. Together, with the Apostle Paul, I refuse to let anything dissuade me from my life in Christ!

  • “No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.” Philippians‬ ‭3:13-14‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Paul says – “I have not achieved it…”. Paul was referring to the call of perfection in Christ Jesus. However, I think we could add everything in our life in Christ in this context. As I write these thoughts, I have not achieved my complete healing. As I ponder on these words, I have not seen answers to all of my prayers. So what do I do? Do I fall back and hide in the corner, or do I press on in faith and hope?!

KNOWING GOD HAS A PERFECT TIMING FOR ALL THINGS ALLOWS ME TO PRESS FORWARD IN FAITH AND HOPE!

I need to simplify my life in Jesus. I need the Father to restore in me the joy of His salvation. I need to sit at the feet of Jesus once again, separated from the tyranny of life and daily demands. My relationship with Jesus, my family, and my friends must become and stay my priority. God does not judge us on what we have done. When we stand before the judgment seat of Christ we will be judged and rewarded for what we have become.

  • Am I more like Jesus?
  • Do I love more like Jesus?
  • Is my faith in Christ alone?

Lord, this morning I thank you that for all the affairs and concerns of my life – YOU HAVE A PERFECT TIME! You are not interested in what I do as much as in what I am becoming. May I fully receive Your grace to become all that You have called me to become. May I become daily more like Jesus!

THANK YOU THAT YOU MAKE ALL THINGS BEAUTIFUL…IN YOUR TIME!

YOUR PERFECT TIME!

In Jesus Name!
